It looked like last night’s Winston-Salem City Council meeting would finally see Council Member Dan Besse’s Welcoming City resolution come to a vote. But that wasn’t the case. “I’m a Christian, a conservative and a Republican in that order.” That’s how Indiana Governor Mike Pence typically introduces himself. I suppose if Pence forthrightly told his supporters at the Millennium Center Tuesday that he’s a tireless supporter of Big Tobacco, Big Coal and Big Banks in that order it would be a little off-putting. Mayor Joines, Democrat Council Members Endorsed Clinton At Wake

Nearly a month ago, before North Carolina’s Democratic primary, Bill Clinton visited Wake Forest. The former president spoke at Wake’s law school before a couple hundred students and members of the community. Melissa Harris-Perry’s Wake the Vote brought Clinton to Wake. Clinton spoke to young voters, a demographic which clearly prefers Bernie Sanders, Clinton urged them to vote for Hillary.

Concerned members of Winston’s LGBTQ Community and their allies packed City Hall Monday night. They patiently waited their turn to publicly comment on House Bill 2.
